At approximately 10:00 am on May 10, 2025, EPA R6 was notified by the National Response Center of oil dumping into the flood plains and Big Bayou in Liberty, Texas.  Approximately 50 barrels of oil have been discharged. The Big Bayou confluence with the Trinity River is approximately 0.5 miles from the incident location. This appears to be an illegal dumping incident and poses a substantial threat of discharge to the Trinity River.

EPA's staff has mobilized to the Site and cleanup has begun in Big Bayou. EPA is working in close coordination with the US Fish and Wildlife Services and the Railroad Commission of Texas.
