On November 25, 2025, at 11:32 AM, the Louisiana State Police reported a fire at a unit of the Westlake Plaquemine Facility in Plaquemine, Iberville Parish, Louisiana, that houses hydrochloric acid, chlorine and ethylene dichloride. EPA mobilized to the area to conduct community air monitoring and document the Westlake Facility’s response efforts.

According to the report, the cause of the fire is unknown. The Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality and Louisiana State Police are also responding to the incident. First responders confirm the fire was extinguished the same afternoon.
