Site Activities from 06/02/2025 to 06/04/2025 6/9/2025 Site Update

EPA and Emergency and Rapid Response Services (ERRS) contractors and Superfund Technical Assessment and Response Team (START) contractors have completed cleanup work at the site. There are no further on-site activities anticipated.

 

Summary of completed activities from 06/05/2025 to 06/06/2025 include the following:

  • Disposal of debris concluded on Friday, June 6th. An estimated total 250 cubic yards has been hauled off-site.
  • START concluded daily air sampling for asbestos and air monitoring at the site
  • ERRS completed soil scrape of the exclusion zone


Site Activities from 06/02/2025 to 06/04/2025 6/4/2025 Site Update

EPA and Emergency and Rapid Response Services (ERRS) contractors and Superfund Technical Assessment and Response Team (START) contractors mobilized to the Site on Monday, June 2nd.

 

Activities completed from 06/02/2025 to 06/04/2025 include the following:

  • ERRS received and staged equipment and supplies (including an excavator and skid steer) needed for completion of removal activities.
  • START completed background air monitoring and sampling before any demolition work began at four locations along the site perimeter.
  • ERRS personnel began and maintained use of the fire hydrant to wet the debris for dust control.
  • ERRS demolished the on-site structures and began stockpile material for future loadout and transportation/disposal.
  • START conducted daily air sampling for asbestos and air monitoring for particulates at four locations along the site perimeter during the removal.
  • Loadout of debris began on Wednesday, June 4th. An estimated total 105 cubic yards has been hauled off-site as of 06/04/2025.

 

Planned activities from 06/05/2025 to 06/07/2025 include the following:

  • ERRS will continue to load debris to for off site disposal.  Remaining amount estimated to be < 45% of original pile.
  • START will continue to run air monitoring stations and conduct asbestos air sampling along perimeter of site activities outside of the exclusion zone.
  • ERRS will conduct a soil scrape within the exclusion zone. 

 



EPA Conducting Removal Work - June 2025 5/29/2025 Site Update
EPA will be conducting removal work the week of June 2nd in coordination with the State and Routt County. Removal work is expected to be completed over a two week period.
