The former Diversified Resources site is in a
mixed-use industrial and residential area and historically, the property was used for heavy industrial purposes involving the manufacturing of
refractory bricks from the 1960s through the mid-1980s. Following refractory brick operations, the property was used through the 1990s and 2000s for various recycling operations relating
to industrial wastes. From approximately
1993 to 2001, the facility accepted large quantities of metal swarf from numerous sources. The property is currently owned by the
Trumbull County Land Revitalization Corporation (TCLRC) since 2022 and is currently unoccupied and inactive. TCLRC was awarded an EPA Brownfields Grant in 2023 to revitalize the property.
In 2015, EPA conducted a TCRA to remove
hazardous wastes including fuels, solvents, and asbestos-containing materials. EPA conducted a site walk in April 2025 at the request of EPA Brownfields program, and observed approximately 4,500 drums of metal shavings, swarf, and cutting oils; and 200 supersacks of industrial waste; 9,000 tons of waste
pile material; and 11 empty aboveground storage tanks.
EPA Superfund and Emergency Managment Division will partner with EPA's Brownfields program and the Trumbull County Land Bank to remove all drums containing chromium hazardous waste and asbestos-contaminated slag debris piles. Following EPA's Time Critical Removal Action, Trumbull County Land Bank remove all remaining non-hazardous waste materials from the property.
