The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) worked with Unified Command in response to an explosion at the TPC Group Plant in Port Neches, TX. EPA monitored with the Airborne Spectral Photometric Environmental Collection Technology aircraft (ASPECT) and had several On-Scene Coordinators and technical support personnel at the Site.

As the threat of further off-site impact from the incident was significantly reduced and the focus of stabilizing the on-site equipment continued, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency transitioned the response and cleanup oversight to Texas Commission on Environmental Quality effective Friday, December 13, 2019.
